Post-Study Work Options in USA
Eligibility

Graduates must have successfully completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctoral degree (or another eligible course) from a SEVP-approved US institution.

The degree must have been completed while holding a valid F-1 Student Visa.
Duration
OPT (Optional Practical Training):

Standard OPT Up to 12 months of work authorization in a field related to the graduate’s area of study.

STEM OPT Extension: Additional 24 months for students in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) programs, totaling 36 months
H-1B Work Visa:

After completing OPT, students can transition to the H-1B visa, which allows them to work for a US employer for up to 6 years.
Employment Conditions

Graduates can work in a field directly related to their degree under the OPT period.

During OPT, there are no employer sponsorship requirements.
